Snuggled below the Yorkshire Dales and dating back to Roman times, York is one of the UK's favourite provincial cities. With great shopping, (especially Christmas shopping), York has a wonderful atmosphere and is also a fabulous place for a chill and relax of any sort. It also bites - masses of bars and nightlife are what makes York weekends away special. It's a great place for a night or two on the town - don't be fooled by its placid air!
